INDIANAPOLIS—Indiana State Police arrested two suspects Monday in an almost 50-year-old investigation into the murder of Indiana teen Laurel Jean Mitchell.
Laurel Jean Mitchell was found dead after she left a church camp to meet with friends and never made it. Her case had remained unsolved until DNA testing revealed a match.
Laurel Jean Mitchell, 17, was found dead in the Elkhart River in Noble County in 1975. DNA evidence led police to arrest two men in connection with the death.
