"We've been having intense negotiations and talks for settlement. We are very, very, very close," said Gordon Rhea, a lawyer for Richard Kahn, a former accountant for Epstein and one of the estate's co-executors. "And I think one more push . and we could be at the finish line." The news of a potential deal came on Wednesday during a virtual conference in Superior Court in St. Thomas, where the parties continued to spar over the estate's legal fees and other expenses. Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and associates arranged at least three forced marriages in order to skirt immigration laws, according to a newly filed court document.
The federal government alleges Epstein anchored a criminal enterprise, which is referred in court documents as the “Epstein Enterprise.”
The syndicate “forced at least three separate arranged marriages, in each case requiring American female victims to marry foreign victims to avoid their deportation,” according to a new filing from U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George.
“The victims were coerced into to [sic] participating in these arranged marriages, and understood that there would be consequences, including serious reputational and bodily harm, if they refused to enter a marriage or attempted to end it.” ....
