this afternoon. it s going to move very quickly. the good news from this, it s not going to linger but we re still going to feel the impacts of a devastating major hurricane. then it will continue to quickly move northeast as a tropical storm. remember, we re going to see rainfall in areas hard-hit by florence the last couple weeks. here s one of the computer models showing a landfall around 3:00 p.m., this is just one reliable forecast model, when that makes its northeast turn that we re going to see the impact and then again moving very quickly, by thursday, friday, it s off the coast but still bringing potential for a lot of rainfall. so hurricane warnings in effect, the time has run out here. you have to stay in place and you have to know what to do and seek shelter if you have not evacuated from some of these areas. storm surge, that s the killer in these storms. we re going to he see epic storm surge, one that perhaps this area has never seen before, upwards of 12 feet, maybe 13,
temperatures are very warm. we still could see a strengthening storm as it approaches the coastline so don t be fooled by the 2. oil most don t want to grade these storms because the danger in some cases is going to be historic and the evacuations are still valid. storm surge message the same as it was yesterday. epic storm surge, 9 to 13 feet in some cases, we could surpass that. the wind field, tropical storm force windss 400 miles across. also to make mention hurricane sandy when it made landfall across the northeast was at 80 mph so that was a category one. that gives you an idea that we could still see sustained damage from a strong category 2. here is the latest track, we get a new track at 5:00 with brand-new coordinates but we
we heard about tropical storm force winds 400 miles from the center. this storm is just getting going for our northern neighbors. northward up through georgia and south carolina where the storm surge is still yet to come in. flooding, damaging winds still on the table here and the tornado threat, as well, as we go through the overnight hours. what s the situation as it relates to tampa? we have been wondering whether this thing will bob and weave, whether storm surges will be as dangerous. things are looking a little better. we have a surge going on but numbers have been revised downward. we are not going to see epic storm surge amounts. now between three, four, five, six feet which is about a moderate storm surge. it will cause some damage. there will be definitely some property inconveniences there. we are not looking for that far inland inunidation of water.
