There is a myriad of reasons for the NI housing crisis. The dominant factor is leadership. The lack of leadership creates uncertainty and denies us all the opportunities to improve social and affordable housing provision.

Author and academic Lesley Lokko has paid tribute to ‘everyone who came out in support of Black Lives Matter protests’ after winning the 2020 RIBA Annie Spink Award for Excellence in Architecture Education
Lokko, 57, is currently setting up the African Futures Institute, an independent postgraduate school of architecture in Accra, Ghana – the city where she grew up until she was 17.

The Scottish-Ghanaian professor founded the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa in 2015, which she ran for four years before becoming the dean of architecture at the Spitzer School of Architecture in New York.
