Vane Brothers said it has taken delivery of its new 3,000-horsepower model bow tug Cape Henry from Chesapeake Shipbuilding.
Cape Henry is a true sister tug of the Cape Fear, which was delivered to Van Brothers in October 2020. Both model bow tugs are primarily tasked with towing petroleum barges engaged in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic coastwise trade.
Featuring a design by the late Frank Basile, P.E., of Entech Designs, LLC, the Cape Henry measures 94 feet long and 32 feet wide with a hull depth of 13 feet. The vessel is equipped with twin Caterpillar 3512 main engines and operates with a JonRie Series 500 hydraulic towing winch. ....

Bayou La Batre, Ala. shipbuilder Master Marine, Inc. (MMI) has delivered the 67’ x 28’ pushboat Rock Solid to Plimsoll Marine. The Rock Solid is the third of four vessels that MMI is scheduled to deliver to the Lower Mississippi River push boat operator.
“The delivery of the Rock Solid marks another milestone in our effort to build and maintain our industry’s most modern and capable fleet of push boats,” said Angus R. Cooper III, President, Cooper/T. Master Marine Delivers Mv. Grain Express To Plimsoll - The Waterways Journal

Plimsoll Marine, LaPlace, La., took delivery December 11 of the mv. Grain Express from Master Marine Inc., Bayou La Batre, Ala. The 76- by 28-foot towboat is the second of four vessels that Master Marine is scheduled to deliver to Plimsoll; the first was the mv. Iron Lady, delivered in September.
“Plimsoll Marine’s goal is to provide the Lower Mississippi River with premier pushboat services, and the delivery of the Grain Express marks yet another milestone in our effort to build and maintain the industry’s most modern fleet of pushboats,” said Angus Cooper III, president of Cooper/T. Smith, parent company of Plimsoll Marine. “We look forward to operating all four of these new vessels, including the Grain Express, at Cooper Consolidated’s midstream terminals and barge fleets.” ....

Grain Express is the second of four vessels that the shipyard is scheduled to deliver to LaPlace, La.-based Cooper Group company Plimsoll Marine, one of the Lower Mississippi River’s leading push boat operators. The four state-of-the-art vessels have been designed by Entech Designs LLC and are fully compliant with all U.S. Coast Guard regulatory requirements.
