Vanguard gathered that he was released unhurt at 1 am, yesterday.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ikenga Tochukwu read: “The Anambra State Police Command today 4th April, 2021, wishes to confirm to the members of the public, especially Ndi Anambra, the safety of Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, the State Commissioner for Public Utilities.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ikenga Tochukwu read: “The Anambra State Police Command today 4th April, 2021, wishes to confirm to the members of the public, especially Ndi Anambra, the safety of Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, the State Commissioner for Public Utilities.
Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, who was kidnapped during an attack on a former governor of the Central Bank, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, on Wednesday, March 31, 20201, has regained freedom.
Soludo was having a meeting with the youths of Isuofia, in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state when the hoodlums struck and abducted the commissioner.
Three policemen were killed and their guns were taken away.
A source, who spoke to Punch said,
“I just spoke to the Commissioner, he has been freed and he is in good health too. He was released at about 1am on Easter day.
The police authorities have arrested five suspects linked to the abduction of the Commissioner for Public Utilities in Anambra State, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, and the murder of three police officers in the state.
Gunmen had on March 31 stormed a rally organised by ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Soludo and gunned down three of his security aides, including policemen.
They also opened fire at the Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State where they whisked away the commissioner.
But in a statement issued on Sunday, the Anambra State Police Command, announced the arrest of the suspects, noting that efforts were in top gear to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
