Since that time, the U.S. Attorney’s Office has charged nine individuals in connection with its ongoing criminal investigation into the pay-to-play corruption scandal enveloping Los Angeles City Hall. But we have seen very little, if any, effort to address this cancer and its underlying symptoms, in large part because of lack of political will on the part of Mayor Eric Garcetti and City Attorney Mike Feuer to take on the most corrupt City Council in the history of Los Angeles.

ANOTHER SHOE FALLS-Disgraced former LA City Councilmember
Mitch Englander received 14 months in prison during a two-hour Zoom sentencing hearing on Monday morning for his role in an ongoing corruption probe of LA City Hall.
The sentence was slightly lower than the two years requested by federal prosecutors.

John F. Walter also leveled the former San Fernando Valley lawmaker with a $15,000 fine, an additional $100 assessment and three years of supervised probation after he is released. Englander received no community service. By contrast, his defense counsel had requested no prison time, no community service and a $9,500 fine for what Walter described as crimes much more serious than described by the Defense. ....

LA WATCHDOG-On March 27, former Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch Englander agreed to plead guilty to one count of scheming to falsify material facts. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 25.
According to the Los Angeles Times, federal probation officials are recommending three years of probation, a $9,500 fine, and no jail time or community service. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is pushing for 24 months in jail, 300 hours of community service, and a $45,000 fine.
Englander deserves the max: three years in the clink and a $250,000 fine. He has violated the public’s trust and disgraced our City. Now, if he could give up a few of the higher ups in the criminal enterprise known as City Hall, then he would deserve a lighter sentence. ....
