Holyrood has announced that former Transport Secretary Michael Matheson will take over responsibility for Scottish energy policy. Matheson will assume the new role of Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport, which will encompass transport, environmental protection, energy and COP26 delivery. He served as Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity from 2018 until the parliamentary election this month and was Justice Secretary between 2014 and 2018. The news was announced as Nicola Sturgeon reshuffles her cabinet after being confirmed as First Minister for a third term yesterday.
