Dr. Rhondda Thomas, Dr. Jim Bostic named ACC UNITE Award Recipients

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Dr. Rhondda Robinson Thomas and Dr. James E. “Jim” Bostic Jr. have been named Clemson’s recipients of the 2023 ACC UNITE Award, which was created in 2021 to honor individuals affiliated with the league who have made an impact in the areas of racial and social justice. Over the past several decades, both Thomas and Bostic have played pivotal roles in the development of education and programming of African American history at Clemson. Dr. James E. (Jim) Bostic and his legacy has included success in education and business, as well as philanthropic support for efforts to provide a more diverse campus at Clemson. His service and contributions to Clemson University are lengthy – from becoming the first African American to earn a doctorate at Clemson in 1972, to the leadership of IPTAY, Bostic has consistently served Clemson and created incredible opportunities for those who have come after him.
