watch the look on the president s face. 75% of the people in the country think it s headed in the right direction. 75%. uh-huh. and 54% don t think that you deserve to be re-elected. i mean, those are not good numbers with 11 months to go before the election. look, we ve gone through an incredibly difficult time in this country and i would be surprised if the american people felt satisfied right now. it is my job to put forward a vision of the country that benefits the vast majority of americans. if i can t get republicans to move, partly because they ve made a political strategic decision that says anything obama is for, we re against because that s our best chance of winning an election. keep in mind, i m talking about republican members of congress. not talking about republicans around the country. they don t like you much better. it s only 7% approval rating.

i m wolf blitzer. you re in the situation room. captions by vitac www.vitac.com he s plunging in the polls and in need of a boost. will a new plan help rick perry climb back to the top of the republican race? his rival, herman cain, is leading the pack according to a brand new poll and perry is a distant fifth with cain apparently benefitting from his 9-9-9 tax plan, perry today unveiled his own new tax plan and 20 is the magic number. he proposes a flat tax of 20% for individuals and corporations, but in a twist, perry would let people choose to pay his flat tax rate or file under the current system, which he derived. the size of the current code is more than 72,000 pages. that s represented by this palate right over here and the reams of paper. that s what the current tax code looks like. the best representation of my plan is this postcard. this is is size of what we re talking about right here. taxpayers will be able to fill this out and file their taxes on that.
sex marriage. joining me now is reporter ann corn blut. she s the author of the cracked ceiling. great to see you. good morning. thanks for having me. the president has never said that he would support gay marriage. how difficult is it for the president to walk this very, very fine line on this hot button issue? reporter: you re absolutely right. he s been walking a line for a number of years now. what he s said about gay marriage is his views on it are evolving. over time, we ve heard that advisers of his have considered what the implications would be, were he to come out in favor of gay marriage. he never said he would. he is in support of civil unions. but he has a lot of backing from the gay nint community not only as a democrat but his recent steps, ending don t ask don t tell with a lot of fanfare. his support from the gay community isn t in question. i think the question is how he s seen nationwide, how the issue is seen nationwide. gay marriage is not something that is univ
for us a higher exposure rate for advertisers than television ads, internet ads. more people are seeing and touching that advertisement, if even if they don t read it. than if they re watching tv. the postal service has no problem delivering that kind of mail. there have been products developed and ideas tossed about that perhaps one day it would allow people to screen their mail before it s delivered on-line. where you would essentially be able to say there are nine pieces that want to be delivered. seven are junk mail. say i don t want them delivered. that could be decades away still. it has been talked about. frankly, the post after service needs that kind of mail to be delivered in order to keep making money. the postal service is trying to look creative. check cashing and renting office space. really? that s right. they ve got so many post offices and mail processing facilities around the country that they either don t need or don t need all the space. there s discussion of po
