Muslims who live in or near Endicott now have their own place of worship, just in time for the holy season of Ramadan.
“We are feeling very blessed to be in the new space,” said Imam Mohammed Amjad, the faith leader for the Endicott Islamic Center. “It’s a very good opportunity for us.”
Located in a storefront in the village’s downtown area, the mosque opened March 26. Some five to 10 people come to pray there five times a day. Nighttime prayer, the last of the five daily prayer times, usually attracts double those numbers, said Shahid Jamshaid, one of the co-organizers of the new mosque. ....
