LeClaire daycare provider facing murder charge for 2020 infant death

By Julia Bertino Apr 15, 2021 (LeClaire, IA) A LeClaire daycare provider faces murder charges in the February 2020 death of a five month old baby. On Thursday, 56 year old Angela Marxen was arrested in connection to the baby s death. The LeClaire Police Department says on Feb. 5, 2020, officers arrived to an in-home daycare on Frontier Court for an “infant in distress”. According to a press release, the five month old appeared to be unresponsive with labored breathing and was transported to a local hospital where her condition continued to worse. She was then airlifted to Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, where investigators say doctors discovered she had a fractured skull as well as a brain breed.

Palmer Sentenced on Possession and Child Endangerment

AJ TaylorDecember 17, 2020Last Updated: February 28, 2021 Jennifer Palmer of Dell Rapids, SD, pled guilty to “Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Marijuana),” a serious misdemeanor, stemming from a traffic stop by the Forest City Police Department on January 31, 2020.  Palmer was sentenced to serve 2 days in the Winnebago County Jail and ordered to pay applicable surcharges and court costs. Palmer was ordered to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow through with all treatment recommendations. Palmer was sentenced on the charge of “Child Endangerment Resulting in Bodily Injury,” a class D felony.  Palmer was sentenced to serve an indeterminate prison sentence not to exceed 5 years and ordered to pay a $750.00 fine, applicable surcharges and court costs.  The fine and prison sentence were suspended and Palmer was placed on probation for a period of 5 years to the Department of Correctional Services.  Palmer was ordered to obtain a mental health evalu
