(Davenport, IA) Bond is reduced for a former LeClaire in-home daycare provider accused of killing an infant last year.
On Tuesday, a Scott County Judge reduced the $1 million cash-only bond for for 56 year old Angela Marxen to $500,000. Marxen must post 10%, or $50,000, to be released from the Scott County Jail.
Marxen is charged with first-degree murder, child endangerment resulting in death, and child endangerment. Marxen has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and a formal arraignment is scheduled for May 13th.
Her attorney, Steve Hanna, says Marxen is, “really not a threat to the community at all, and that she has cooperated with police “from the very beginning.”
LeCLAIRE, Iowa (KTIV) - A woman in eastern Iowa has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after an infant in her care suffered multiple severe injuries resulting in her death.
According to the LeClaire, Iowa Police Department, officers were dispatched to an in-home daycare in LeClaire on Feb. 5, 2020, for an infant in distress.
Upon arrival, police say first responders found a 5-month-old female who appeared to be unresponsive with labored breathing.
The 5-month-old was transported to a local hospital, where her condition worsened. She was then airlifted to an Iowa City hospital, where doctors discovered the child had a fractured skull, as well as a brain bleed.
