About the spending and debt and deficit and economy, a lot of republicans are not going to go along without some tradeoff, some plan to overhaul the tax code or reduce government spending. that s where we are right now. chuck schumer is a democrat in the senate from new york. here s what he had to say on the subject on the same program this morning. we are going to have to come together on spending. narz no question about it. we democrats agree there ought to be spending cuts, but you can t do willy-nilly across the board. there s some things that changed since 2008 and need to be funded. reporter: on january 25th that s the night of the state of union. a couple of weeks after that, the president will put forth his budget. we ll see what plans he has to bring down the deficit and perhaps come together with republicans on a spending plan. alex. it s on the calendar. okay. thank you, mike. you can get that full interview right here on msnbc. we ll bring you meet the press ....
