The body of a mountaineer who died in a fall of roughly 1,000 feet earlier this week was recovered Saturday by Denali National Park and Preserve climbing rangers, while a second climber injured in the accident remained hospitalized in Anchorage, Alaska.
Two climbers roped together during a technical climb of an 8,400-foot peak in Denali National Park and Preserve fell roughly 1,000 feet, a mishap that killed one of them and left the other seriouylsy injured.
Denali National Park mountaineering rangers were kept busy during the weekend with two rescues involving three climbers, one who enduring a sliding fall of roughly 900 feet.
