to philadelphia. the sheriff in this area wes trip with the halifax county sheriff s department is with me now. joining me on the phone, thank you so much for spenlding a moment with us. what happened? caller: it appeared around 12:00 noon today, the driver of the tractor that was hauling heavy equipment, the tractor itself got stuck on the track and the amtrak came and collided. do you know of any injuries? we have 200 passengers approximately, and a small portion of those passengers have reported injures but knowing life threatening. we have ems on scene. we have assistance from our local school district here with the buses to get the patients transported to the hospital. we have a staging area set up for the red cross to give the passengers to refreshments and
and they are very concerned about the three who are unaccounted for. this is a very close community. it s a small cul-de-sac that we re standing here in gaithersburg, maryland. i know this area very well. i lived pretty close when i got a call this morning from somebody who actually saw what went down. i want to talk here to tracy everett. we ve been watching this video throughout the day. he was here when you saw that jet hit these three homes right behind us. can you just very briefly describe what that was like? i was traveling to a job site. not sure of my bearings where i m at. the plane flew overhead very low couple hundred feet maybe off the ground. flying erratically. i saw him dive in behind the trees and saw the plume of smoke. hurried my way to the smoke. got here into the neighborhood. found this home behind us. found this house on fire. ems on scene. trying to get in here and
he jumped off and seen him ran over his brother, dragged him down the road and took off. i saw the front wheels go over tamerlan, then kind of bounced up beneath the under carriage a couple times. the rear wheels he got hung up in and dragged about 25, 20 feet and then the other suspect, the younger brother smashed into one of our park cruisers here and fled through the intersection in that stolen suv. i got back up and ran back over to where tamerlan was, handcuffed him. in the meantime, tamerlan still actively resisting. i just stood and put my foot in the small of tamerlan s back and held him down from rolling over and got on the radio and called for ambulance. in custody, ems on scene. looking for another one. the one suspect was critically injured, transported to the hospital and pronounced dead and an extensive manhunt is underway.
we have multiple people shot in front of the empire state building. we have two people shot. four people shot. ems on scene. chilling audio recordings from nypd radio transmission this morning after reports of shots fired outside manhattan s empire state building. police were able to respond within minutes thanks to nearby construction workers who saw the shooting, followed the suspect, and alerted two uniformed counterterrorism officers near the building. i want to bring in former philadelphia mayor ed rendell. welcome, governor. how do big cities respond to reports of shots fired like this? take us back to being mayor of philadelphia and how is all of this coordinated on local, state, federal response? well, the first response of course is the police. and as soon as someone calls 911 like that construction worker did, or he actually didn t call 911 but right. a citizen called 911. that would alert the local
just about 30 seconds later, it says adam 1 has advised that a perp is in custody. several seconds, about 30 seconds later, quote, we have multiple people shot in front of the empire state building. 40 seconds after that, we have two civilians shots, the perp is shot. then there are sounds of people yelling, quote, we have ems on scene. we are getting reports we have four people shot. more seconds, only about 50 seconds later, quote, we are there are many shots fired by mos, which means man on the street. they took the perp down, that s affirmative. just in a matter of seconds, again an indicate that the nypd responded extremely quickly. we don t have the official information, but i m sure in this conference mayor bloomberg will confirm that the reaction was extremely fast on the part
