EMPORIUM â A Ulysses man died in a house fire Monday morning. An occupant of the home, Craig Witmer, 63, was pronounced deceased by the Potter County Coronerâs Office, Emporium-based state police reported. According to police, at 9:15 a.m. Monday, there was a fire in 1573 White Knoll Road, Harrison Township. During a subsequent investigation, the state police fire marshal unit and the Harrison Township Fire Department determined that the fire was accidental in nature and that the structure sustained severe damage. Police did not say what caused the blaze. They did not indicate that anyone else lived in the home. Assisting Harrison Township firefighters at the scene were the Tri-Town Fire Department of Ulysses, the Whitesville (N.Y.) Fire Department, Crary Hose Co. of Westfield and the Genesee Fire Department. ....
