Omang C Omang: Lawan must swear in Jarigbe as Cross River North Senator

Daily Post Nigeria Published It is obvious that from the Judgements of the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court, Stephen Odey is no longer the Senator Representing Cross River North in the Nigerian Senate. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has obeyed the judgement of court and issued a Certificate of Return to Rt. Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (MHR), which automatically invalidates the Certificate of Return earlier issued to Odey after the by-election. The fact that the apex court has ruled on who was the authentic candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is incontrovertible. The candidate remains Jarigbe, as affirmed by the Supreme Court, which struck out the appeal filed by Stephen Odey, challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal. The appeal was struck out due to a defective Notice of Appeal on the 25th of February, 2021.

The aim is to enliven the conversation by enriching it with fresh perspectives, putting disparate issues in context, placing others in sharp relief as well as expanding the conversational space and provoking critical input. This is one classic case of the more, the merrier. Advertisement The foregoing is not just to appear busy – it is rather to stress the importance of the discussion to the discerning. Where else, 2023 may be just another election year or another chance at power-grab, but for Benue state, 2023 will be a revalidation of our right to life, our right to live on our ancestral land and our right to human dignity. Of course, it is understood by any perceptive mind that the first validation was in 2019.
