After the disappointment of just missing the podium as a freshman last season, Calvary Lutheran’s Sydney Morris got the joy of a medal Friday at the Class 1 and 2 track and field state championships at Adkins Stadium. Morris walked into the shot put area and heaved her first attempts 37 feet, 1.25 inches, the best throw of the day to that point, but placed her second at the end of the first round of throws.
