Marple-Newtown topped West Chester East to become the first team outside the Ches-Mont to win the District 1 5A championship since softball went to six divisions.
Rebecca Opperman allowed just one baserunner, a first inning triple from Madison Parisi, as the 4th seeded Vikings upset top seeded Unionville to advance to the District 1 Class 5A finals for the first time since 2021. Caelyn Rodriguez, was 3-4 with two doubles and a triple for the Vikings, scoring twice and knocking in a pair.
