A 45-year-old armed man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of kidnapping and other charges after a police chase and hours-long standoff in the Chollas Creek area.
The incident occurred when two officers were responding to a call of a man trespassing a local business in the 3300 block of Barnett Avenue.
According to police, Jones refused to comply with officers and kept reaching for his bag. When officers attempted to put him in handcuffs, he punched the officers and entered a nearby military property, and stood on a shipping container waving a knife.
That went on for four hours, according to police.
After finally getting him off the shipping container with the help of the Emergency Negotiation Team, Jones still refused to put the knife down. When the officer released the K9 Titan to assist, the man stabbed the dog.
