8 00 at night, and investigators said the 40year old woman was waiting in the vestibule of the building here nearby briggs avenue. The suspect comes up behind her, trying to grab her purse, and then you can see him punch her in the face, and then he turns again to violently trying to rip the bag away from her. Finally giving up and going away without anything from her. He was last seen on a bicycle on east 201st street. The woman was free thed for facial fractures and a cut to her head. Police are searching for the suspect this morning, described as a bald black man between 58 and 511, again, last seen wearing those white gloves. Demanding they turnover cash from the register. As the suspects were threatening to shoot, they say a Newark Police officer who sometimes stops by the gas station happened to be in the area and another attendant flagged him down and told the officer what was going on and they say the officer ordered the suspect to drop the gun. When the suspect refused, they say thats when the cop fired one shot, injuring the suspect in the torso area. He was quickly taken into custody as was the second have a gun. Thankfully, all of the attendants here at the gas station are fine. Incident. Police have since cleared the scene but they are collecting evidence for much of the night.
