very reluctant to vote for someone like kirsten jill brand or elizabeth warren. we re moments away from the minnesota senator there amy klobuchar launching her campaign bid for presidency. you watched these pictures and you know the landscape out there with kamala harris and as well as cory booker and elizabeth warren just yesterday. is this going to be moderate, the progressive candidate, is this going to be the person that will be all the other candidates? look, it s hard to tell because of the weather, but since prince died, i m not sure how many black people live in minnesota. one of the things you re seeing with this particular crowd, it doesn t again from what you can tell with people s hoods on, it doesn t look particularly diverse. kamala harris came out with a very diverse opening salvo. amy klobuchar hasn t shown she can win minority, non-white votes. that s really going to be, i
donald trump is not the only problem we ve got. yeah. donald trump is the symptom of a badly broken system. well, there were many people who were waiting to hear her response after president trump unleashed a tweet about her last night. laura, is that what people wanted from elizabeth warren, somebody who is an attack dog who will take on donald trump? yes, absolutely. they want someone who will take on donald trump. i think democrats right now are extremely concerned with electability. they re more concerned with somebody who can beat trump than the minor differences between the candidates. i do think elizabeth warren stand out and i think in addition to directly attacking trump and calling out his racism, she s going to have to call out the fact that he made fun of native american genocide on twitter. there s no way to not respond to those little jabs. i think she needs to not sink to
rick, in some of her policies, imgrecimigration reform? providing a contrast to president trump. one, mentioned grit and showed grit and was out there 23 minutes in the snow and discussed earlier, hard to imagine donald trump doing that same kind of a speech in that setting, but also she had a message of unity that she wanted to represent all americans. she made a point of it as opposed to donald trump who seems to isolate himself among his base. that came through loud and clear. also i think getting back to yesterday s announcement with elizabeth warren. one thing i keep listening for democrats to do, to not do. i think elizabeth warren did a little too much yesterday, was get into donald trump s defense of the past. so, in other words, manufacturing jobs, coal jobs. people don t want coal jobs. even people who have coal jobs don t want them. they work in coal mines so
leading candidates for the democrats. are we mentioning the name amy klobuchar? well, we ll have to see. certainly i think most people looking at the democratic field would say she s probably not starting as a top tier contender. certainly the candidates that have attracted the most attention that seem to be really galvanizing the democratic base are, you know, kirsten jill brand, elizabeth warren, a few others and certainly joe biden if you were to run into the race would be immediately top tier candidate as well, kamala har s harris, cory booker. amy klobuchar, that s one of the reasons you see her picking a day like today when she can announce she s going to be basically the top news story of the day, can try to get some attention and tell her own story as a pragmatist, somebody who can work on a bipartisan level, perhaps has a little bit more appeal to some of the middle of the country to some of the trump voters who might be thinking twice about voting for him for a second term
