WAEC goes tough on candidates, schools involved in malpractices On By Elizabeth Osayande The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has said candidates and schools caught in any act of malpractice will be dealt with. This is as the Council stated that those with the complaint have a one-year grace after the release of results to make an appeal. These decisions and more were reached at the just-concluded 71st meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of WAEC held on Tuesday, 27th and Wednesday, 28th April 2021 at the WAEC Testing and Training Centre (WTTC), Ogba, Lagos. In a release signed by the Acting Head Public Affairs, WAEC, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, the decisions were part of the decisions reached at the meeting by the Committee which is the highest decision making organ of WAEC. ....
By Elizabeth Osayande THE Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, UNILAG, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has stated that the launch of BOI-UNILAG Incubation & Co-working hub will give her students the leverage to be job creators before and after their graduation. Prof. Ogundipe who said this at the launch of the centre located at the Faculty of Social Sciences premises, added that efforts were being put in place to assist indigent students with tablets to key into the virtual learning process of the institution. According to him: “Our vision is that by the time our students graduate, they will have registered some of their own companies. We are also hoping to have Arts and Craft centre, including other units in the university. ....
By Elizabeth Osayande Parents of candidates who want to sit for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, have expressed dissatisfaction with the hiccups their wards are encountering getting their National Identification Numbers, NIN. The difficulties being experienced in securing NIN had initially led to the shift in the start of the registration for the examination. The parents, who poured their feelings on the Facebook page of an education online group, the Concerned Parents & Educators, CPE, said the pressure to get the NIN has caused pains to many candidates who want to register for the examination. For a parent, Mr. Francis Peter, the approach JAMB took was uncalled for. He said: “If you take the wrong approach to do something good, it will be abused. ....
