Letter from the Editors: Issue 3

Letter from the Editors: Issue 3 Letter from the Editors: Issue 3 Raymond Banke / Senior Staff Illustrator letter from the editors Dear Readers, Welcome to Issue 3 of The Eye! As midterms are approaching, we hope that you can take some time to read this week’s stories and catch up on the important issues impacting students. In this week’s cover story, Features Editor Jade Justice and Managing Editor Elizabeth Karpen write about the lack of proactive intervention against disordered eating culture for Columbia track and cross country athletes. The article discusses how track and cross country, as sports, create cultures that champion skinnier figures in order to win, even when the health of the athletes is compromised.

Meet Spectator's 145th Managing Board - Columbia Daily Spectator

Meet Spectator’s 145th Managing Board Meet Spectator’s 145th Managing Board Beatrice Shlansky / The 145th Editorial Board At the heart of our mission at Spectator lies a desire to help members of our community make the most of their time at Columbia. Our managing board embodies this mission by providing a space where we can hold the institution accountable for its actions and allow community members to begin conversations that shape the future. While our managing board is comprised of Spectator leaders, we are also students with stakes in many of the issues that we cover. We hope to hold those in power accountable including ourselves as we tell these stories.

Letter From the Editors: Issue 1

Letter From the Editors: Issue 1 Letter From the Editors: Issue 1 Aliya Schneider Dear readers, Welcome to Volume XXX of The Eye, Spectator’s long-form magazine. After a very long 2020, the new year has never felt so welcome. Here at The Eye, the start of 2021 marks so much more than simply a fresh start, but a celebration of our history as we embark on our 30th volume, take on new roles on our editorial team, and enter a new semester. While we are still largely remote, this semester has brought more of the student body home to Morningside Heights. With all this change, we took some time to reflect on what we hope to achieve as a magazine. As we step into the new year, we want to share our mission with you:
