BRATENAHL, Ohio Located on Lake Erie at 12407 Lake Shore Blvd., Gwinn Estate is considered one of the most historically significant private homes in Ohio.
The Italianate-style mansion was built in 1907 by William G. Mather, the wealthy industrialist, head of the Cleveland-Cliffs iron company and one of Cleveland’s most famous residents of all time his name graces the freighter turned maritime museum permanently moored at North Coast Harbor. Mather lived in the home until his death in 1951. He named the estate after his mother, Elizabeth Gwinn.
