Spanish designer Júlia Roca Vera has created a line of cosmetics from fruit that was discarded for purely aesthetic reasons, to encourage people to make use of waste products. Named Lleig, after the Catalan word for ugly, the range includes four products all made using one single piece of fruit that had been discarded by its producer because it didn t comply with the cosmetic quality regulations used by supermarkets. Júlia Roca Vera created four products including a moisturiser (above) I took one single orange to see how many different products I could make from only one piece, Roca Vera told Dezeen. Spanish design student Ariadna Sala Nadal has developed a series of mental health tools for survivors of child sexual abuse, to help make their emotions more tangible and thus easier to communicate. Called Balisa, the kit includes 21 different modules of a unique colour, weight and texture, developed in collaboration with psychologists who specialise in the subject and their patients. Each of these pieces represents a different emotion or step in the survivor s healing process, which they have dealt with in their therapy session.
