Eastern Kentucky Universityâs Diversity Cabinet in the Student Government Association hosted a panel that was centered around diversity, equity and inclusion on April 7. It was named after Dr. Sheila Pressley, who passed in January of 2020 at the age of 53. Dr. Pressley made a lasting impact at Eastern, as she was the dean of health sciences and always made an effort to push for diversity in all facets on campus, especially in upper management. The event was hosted by SGA director of diversity Britany Bowens. It was opened by Bowens introducing student body president Eyouel G. Mekonnen as he talked about the fight for diversity everywhere. Mekonnen said, âWhat matters most is what happens after this conversation. What matters in significance is what is actionable.â ....

Mystic Ice Cream opens new location in downtown Leesburg LEESBURG Between its psychedelic décor and sweet smells of homemade ice cream, the new Mystic Ice Cream location in downtown Leesburg is hard to miss. Owners Darrell and Lisa Day hosted a soft opening for the new location on Monday afternoon and welcomed guests into a socially-distanced dining area adorned with vinyl records, music posters and even a tie-dye wall to capture the ultimate social media photos. “There are two or three things that customers are always going to get with us,” said Darrell. “That is incredible ice cream, awesome service and a great atmosphere. One thing that you won’t experience anywhere else is that around half of the ice creams have a little bit of alcohol in them.” ....
