A Gobabis man will spend the next 37 years in jail for killing his 10-month-old baby boy by throwing him to the ground and subsequently fracturing his skull.
Dawid Nowaseb, 27, threw the child to the ground to spite his girlfriend, Lucia Geinamseb shortly after an argument erupted between the two. The boy, August Geinamseb died due to hypervolemic shock, according to a post mortem report.
Nowseb was sentenced by high court Judge Christie Liebenberg this morning, weeks after he admitted that he indeed killed the boy. According to Nowaseb however, his intention was not to kill the child although he knew that throwing him to the ground could cause his death. ....
DAWID Nowaseb, the 27-year-old man who is accused of killing his ten-month-old son to spite the baby’s mother has been found guilty in the Windhoek High Court.
High Court Judge Christie Liebenberg today also found Nowaseb guilty of assaulting the baby’s mother with the intention to cause her grievous bodily harm after he threw her with a stone.
The judge found that Nowaseb acted with direct intent to kill when threw his son, August Geinamseb, to the ground.
He initially pleaded guilty to the murder, but with dolus eventualis, which means although he foresaw the possibility of the infant’s death, he did not intend to kill him. ....
