FG Releases N7bn For Completion Of East-West Road – Minister


(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Omotayo Alasoadura, says that the Federal Government has released about N7 billion to enable contractors to facilitate the completion of the East-West Road project.
This was announced in a statement by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Deworitshe Patricia made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday.
“The Minister of State, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), Senator Omotayo Alasoadura has disclosed that the Federal Government released about N7billion to contractors to facilitate the East-West Road project, urging contractors to comply to the directives in order to complete and hand over the project to the people of the region before the end of the First Quarter 2022,” the statement read in part. ....

The founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, Atedo Peterside, has said the $1.5 billion (about N600 billion) the Nigerian government plans to spend on the Port Harcourt refinery can be used to build 12 world-class hospitals at $125 million (N48 billion) each.
Peterside said this on his Twitter page on Thursday while advising the government to sell the refinery to investors that could revamp it with their own funds. ....

A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Port Harcourt, Rivers, Citizens Quest, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on East-West Road linking the Niger Delta states.
The Group’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr Chigozie Okere in a statement on Wednesday in Port Harcourt said the organisation was impressed with the quality and pace of work on the road.
He lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs for a job well done.
Okere, while commending the Federal Government for responding to its demands to complete the all-important East-West Road, appealed for more funding. ....
