Republican frontrunner donald trump was in South Carolina on Saturday Night complaining once again about the numerous criminal indictments hes facing and calling on republicans in congress to do something. Addressing the friendly audience, trump grossly understated the seriousness of the charges against him, take a listen. The fake charges put forth by the biden sham, we call it a sham indictment. I really believe hes mentally ill. But these are outrageous, and it is an outrageous criminalization of political speech. Theyre trying to make it illegal to question the results of an election. Hes also lashing out at his former Vice President

lawmakers on capitol hill. he argued that they needed to step up and do something in order to help defend him against his recent legal battles. one big thing i find to be different from his speech on saturday is it came less than 24 hours after jack smith wrote in a court filing asking a judge to set limits on what trump s team can do with the evidence shared in the election subversion case. the judge ultimately ruled on saturday that donald trump s team must respond to that proposal by monday afternoon, but there were a lot of questions going into saturday night. whether donald trump s team would encourage him to change his rhetoric in light of that court filing, but clearly he did not. elaina treen, cnn, columbia, south carolina. ukraine says its air defenses fought off a russian attack overnight. kyiv says russia launched two waves of strikes, one saturday night and the other sunday
election day so we won t know whose strategy is most effective. elaina, i want to you to respond to a piece in the new york times that talked about the democrats largely not addressing some of the legislative accomplishments that the president has achieved, perhaps because they ve been inundated with attacks from republicans saying that these legislative accomplishments have led to inflation. where does that leave democrats on the campaign trail in terms of embracing president biden before election day? well, it is interesting. i think you see a big split across the country around candidates who want president support, he was in california, oregon last week, but both very solid democratic state where s president biden s presence isn t seen as a detriment. but it is fascinating. i do think president biden has been very legislatively successful, to the surprise of many people given the margins in
