a grueling record-breaking climb for tommy caldwell and kevin jorgeson. the first to free climb to the top of el capitan using only their hands and feet grabbing on to tiny pieces of razor-sharp rock, climbing at night and sleeping in hanging tents. there s this crazy arctic wind storm. tossed around like a rag doll. reporter: at one point, kevin struggled, unable to get through one of the toughest sections of the climb. pretty devastated and thoughts crossed my mind that i should just throw in the towel and support tommy to the top. reporter: after 11 attempts, he made it. when i heard he made it i cried. family and friends watching below they make it to the top of the climbing world. ted rowlands, abc news, los angeles. i can t wait to talk to these guys. love this story.
