Kel'el Ware had 28 points, 12 rebounds and the go-ahead free throw to lead Indiana to a 65-64 victory over Michigan State on Sunday as the Hoosiers wrapped up the Big Ten regular season with their fourth consecutive win. The last tie was at 64 on a driving layup by MSU's Tyson Walker with 1:28 remaining. After a series of misses, Ware made one of two free throws and the Hoosiers led 65-64 with 17 seconds left.
Ace Baldwin Jr. scored 15 of his 23 points in the first half and Qudus Wahab recorded a double and Penn State led for all the second half to beat Indiana 83-74 on Saturday. Each Penn State starter reached double-digit scoring. Zach Hicks scored 17 points, D'Marco Dunn 13 and Nick Kern Jr. and Wahab 11 apiece for the Nittany Lions (14-14, 8-9 Big Ten).
Ryan Langborg scored 26 points, Matt Nicholson and Nick Martinelli had double-doubles and Northwestern held off a furious Indiana rally to defeat the Hoosiers 76-72 on Sunday. Indiana scored 12 of those points, the last three coming on a jumper by Mackenzie Mgbako that made it 75-72 with nine seconds left. With five seconds left, Brooks Barnhizer made one of two free throws for a four-point Northwestern lead and Indiana's Anthony Leal missed a 3-pointer as time expired.
Purdue center Zach Edey wanted to leave Indiana with a lingering impression Saturday. The reigning national player of the year had 26 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and the first 3-pointer of his career while leading No. 2 Purdue to a 79-59 victory over archrival Indiana. The 7-foot-4 Edey dominated the middle again and he had plenty of help as the Boilermakers (22-2, 11-2 Big Ten) won their eighth straight.
Mawot Mag scored 13 points to lead five players in double figures and Rutgers picked up its first Big Ten Conference win of the season with a 66-57 victory over Indiana on Tuesday night. Mag, who recorded career highs of 24 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Iowa last time out, added eight rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Scarlet Knights (9-6, 1-3). Aundre Hyatt made two 3-pointers and scored 12 with six rebounds to help Rutgers beat the Hoosiers (11-5, 3-2) for the ninth time in the last 11 matchups.
