65-year-old farmer dies at Tikri Border | Ludhiana News

PATIALA: A farmer from Nabha block in Patiala district died at Tikri border on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Dhanna Singh, 65, of Tunga village and was vicepresident of BKU (Ekta Ugraha) Tunga village.
Farm leaders claimed that Dhanna and his brother had been at the protest site since the beginning of agitation on November 27. They said he was found dead in the morning and his body was taken to a nearby hospital in Bahadurgarh for post-mortem. “The deceased owned around 10 acres of land but we are still to get complete details about his farm debt,” said BKU (Ekta Ugraha) Patiala general secretary Jaswant Singh. A functionary of the outfit said, “He has left behind his mother Tej Kaur, wife Gurdev Kaur and three married children.” ....

Tents being readied to shelter women at protest site
PATIALA: In a move to strengthen the agitation at Delhi borders, the farmer unions are planning to increase the participation of women.
In the last two days, more women from villages have gone to Delhi and the local farm union leaders are making necessary arrangements of buses, tractor-trolleys and other vehicles to ferry women protesters.
Women from Sangrur, Patiala and other districts, had joined the protest along with the pictures of their family members who had committed suicide in Punjab.
Jagtar Singh, BKU (Ekta Ugraha Sangrur) president, said, “In the last three days, women in large number had gone to participate in the protest. Even protests at toll plazas in Punjab are being handled by the women as they have become aware of this ‘do or die’ battle.” ....
