Rescue Pastor Yakuru from Boko Haram's captivity to save Nigeria, CAN tells Buhari

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari  to order the military to rescue Pastor Bulud Yakuru from the Boko Haram terrorists before it is too late. 
CAN in a statement by its President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, said Pastor Yakuru of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) Church of the Brethren was reportedly abducted on 24 December, 2020 when the terrorists attacked Pemi Village in Borno State and killed not fewer than seven people. 
CAN said the Pastor who has been in the custody of the Abubakar Shekau-led faction of Boko Haram since December last year was on Wednesday, February 24, reportedly given a one-week ultimatum for their demands to be met by government or Pastor Yakuru will be killed.  ....

That’s the message from the World Council of Churches (WCC) for Valentine’s Day 2021, encouraging people to share new images and messages created for a special social media campaign called “Celebrate love, prevent abuse.” Other messages include “Love is kind” and “Each day, affirm respect, devotion, and love.” The messages are intended to invite reflection during a time in which “a shadow pandemic of domestic abuse and violence has risen alarmingly in conjunction with COVID-19-related lockdowns,” said a WCC release. “In response, the Thursdays in Black campaign has grown, with increasing numbers of global ambassadors speaking out, in many regions and languages, in support of a world free from rape and gender-based violence.” Campaigners are urging attention to gender-based violence and awareness of its root ....

Islamic Militants Murder Two Dozen Nigerian Christians over Christmas

Militant jihadists killed at least 24 people, abducted 20 more, and torched a church in two Christmas Eve attacks in northeast Nigeria, the Barnabas Fund reported Tuesday.
Islamists believed to belong to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), an off-shoot of Boko Haram, kidnapped at least 20 Christians on Christmas Eve in Garkida, Adamawa State. The raiders chose five of their prisoners to be lined up and shot in cold blood in a terror attack the jihadists referred to as a “Christmas present” in a video of the event.
In their assault, the jihadists also torched homes, shops, cars, and bulldozers, sending the Garkida villagers fleeing. Some of those who fled are still missing. ....
