NORTH BRANFORD Nancy Kaplan was feeling desperate that her young adult son get his COVID-19 vaccination before they go to her daughter’s graduation from an Iowa veterinary school in May.
“No one wears masks there,” said Kaplan, who lives in Danbury.
Turning to the “New York/Connecticut Vaccine Hunters and Angels” group on Facebook, Kaplan’s son was given an appointment in plenty of time for the trip. Little did she know it was a 16-year-old Boy Scout who came to their rescue. ....

Middletown Acting Health Director Kevin Elak expects a rush of people in the new age eligibility to register for the shots come Friday, which will likely delay appointments.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced Monday that people 45 and older will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as of Friday and that everyone 16 and older will be eligible on April 5.
Since vaccine distribution began, Elak said, his office has been getting a minimum of 200 Moderna doses a week, although he routinely asks for more from the state. Each municipality received a baseline allocation. ....

NEW HAVEN In two months, the nation could prevent 2.8 million COVID-19 infections and save 15,700 lives if every household was given a set of test kits to use once a week, according to a study by the Yale School of Public Health.
This would be true even if most people threw the tests away or ignored the results, the research, published Tuesday in Annals of Internal Medicine, found. The cost would be about $68 per person, the study found. ....
