unemployment rate holding at 3.6%. bill: that might be a bit of welcome news after wall street s worse day in two years. the dow closing down more than 1,000 points. maria bartiromo is here. we re on the air live to you and good morning. hello, bill and dagen. bill: i was watching fox business last hour. size it up? is it getting better, worse, treading water do you think? well here is the deal, bill. this is a good report. there is no doubt about it. unfortunately it is not good enough to change a narrative which has been all about inflation. here are the details. 428,000 jobs created in the month of april. much better than the expectations. we were expecting 390,000. the problem is the wages. wages were up 5 1/2% for the month of april. initially markets saw that as a positive that goes back down from the month before. in the month of march wages were up 5.6%. however, when you look at the inflation that we re talking about, inflation is running at 8 1/2%. so ....
