YORK COUNTY: Firefighter memorial after dying in the line of duty


The Craley Fire Department laid to rest its Chief Engineer Edward Bookmyer on Saturday.The York County firefighter died in the line of duty the previous week from a medical emergency while he was working on a piece of equipment. He was buried in Lower Windsor Township in the Craley Cemetery. First responders throughout York County came to remember and honor him. Bookmyer leaves behind a wife, a son, a brother and five sisters. Edward Bookmyer was 60-years-old.

YORK COUNTY: Firefighter dies in the line of duty


A York County Fire Department says one of its firefighters died in the line of duty earlier this week.The Craley Fire Department in Lower Windsor Township says its Chief Engineer Edward Bookmyer died from a medical emergency while he was working on a piece of equipment. Bookmyer had just returned from a call. He served with Craley Fire Department for over a decade. The department says was the first one to lend a hand when it was needed, not only at the station but if any friends needed help as well.

A York County firefighter died in the line of duty on Saturday.
The Craley Fire Department announced Saturday night that Edward Bookmyer, 60, who was their chief engineer, passed away.
“Ed was a dedicated and faithful servant to his family, friends and his community,” department officials wrote on their Facebook page. “He served with the Craley Fire Department for over a decade and was the first one to lend a hand when it was needed, not only at the station but if any friends needed help, as well.” ....
