Police Rescue 22 Underage Girls From Prostitution In Ogun

The police have rescued 22 underage girls who were taken from Akwa-Ibom for prostitution to Ogun State.
The girls were rescued on Friday during an operation, coordinated by the Area commander Ota, ACP Muhideen Obe.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the police team, upon credible intelligence, received, that minors were being recruited from other states and used as commercial sex workers at KOLAB hotel in Itele Ota.
DSP Oyeyemi noted the officers stormed the said hotel at about 8 pm, where the 22 teenagers whose ages are between 10 and 14yrs were rescued.
“Upon interrogation, the girls narrated how they were lured from their respective villages in Akwa Ibom state to come to Ogun state, with the promise to employ them as sales girls in restaurants and supermarkets, only for them to get to Lagos and transferred to a brothel in Ogun state as commercial sex workers”. ....

We were brought to Ogun to work as sales girls but ended up as prostitutes - Rescued underaged girls

At least, 22 underaged girls of Akwa Ibom State of origin were on Friday rescued from a prostitution home in Ogun State, DAILY POST reports.
The girls were said to have been lured from Akwa Ibom to Ogun State with phony offers of employment.
Some of them said they were brought to the Gateway State to work as sales girls, but they were later locked in different rooms to work as prostitutes.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest to DAILY POST on Saturday.
Oyeyemi said the rescue operation was coordinated by the Area commander of Ota, ACP Muhideen Obe, having gathered credible intelligence. ....

Ogun man wanted for killing cop, stabs mother-in-law to death

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old man, Opeyemi Ganiyu, for allegedly killing his mother-in-law, Abosede Oyewole.
The suspect was arrested on Monday following a report made at the Atan-Ota Divisional Police Headquarters by one Odunayo Matthew.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi said the complainant reported that the suspect, who is married to the daughter of the deceased, was fond of beating his wife on the slightest provocation.
The PPRO stated, “On the day of the incident, the suspect as usual beat up his wife and inflicted injuries on her, and that was the reason why the deceased went to meet him to warn him to desist from beating her daughter. ....

Husband assaults wife, stabs mother-in-law to death in Ogun

A 28-year-old man, Opeyemi Adeola Ganiyu, is cooling his heels in a police cell for reportedly stabbing his mother-in-law, Abosede Oyewole, to death in Ogun.
The suspect was arrested Monday following a report made at Atan Ota divisional headquarters by one Odunayo Mathew.
Mathew had reported that the suspect, who was fond of beating his wife on any slight provocation, did so again on Monday, inflicting injuries on her body.
It was gathered that the slain mother-in-law had visited her daughter’s husband to warn him against beating his wife. ....
