Clarksville to take part in 'Plant a Tree for Tennessee'

Clarksville Now CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville residents can pick up a bare-root seedling tree at Edith Pettus Park on April 24 as part of the Tennessee Environmental Council’s ‘Plant a Tree for Tennessee’ program. Seedlings will be available for a $1.99 donation, and can be reserved online through Green Interchange. There are 12 species of tree available, including Northern Red Oak, Redbud, Tulip Poplar and Witch Hazel. The event is meant to build on the success of Clarksville’s Arbor Day celebration and TN Tree Day initiatives, according Parks and Rec spokesman Ryan Sample. City Forester Katherine Killebrew said in a press release that planting trees in Clarksville is beneficial to the city as a whole.
