Was going on and nothing that surprising. edith, we re out of toilet paper! no, we re not, i bought some yesterday, it s in the closet in the kitchen. i ain t in the kitchen. oh! hearing a toilet flush for the first time was a big deal and made headlines. [ toilet flushes ] what s this country coming to anyhow? what is it, archie? bad news? what else? did we get out of vietnam or something? don t be a wise guy, huh? i wasn t going to play around with mom dented the car. how are we going keep dad from finding out about it? not when i see everything that s going around in our country. just because a guy is sensitive and he s an intellectual and he wears glasses, you make him out a queer. i never said a guy who wears glasses is a queer. a guy who wears glasses is a four-eyes, a guy who s a fag is a queer. all in the family did something really new for television. it put before the american public archie s friend, who was ....
Panel to discuss that one, edith, susan and deniece of all us is she with us. you know, the argument that is being made is that with the republicans potentially taking over the senate and who knows what happens on the presidential fight, on the presidential front, this will be the only chance that democrats have to have to longevity to withstand the republican pressure on the courts. susan, i ll start with you. what do you think of that rational? i just think it is kind of political and it is somewhat dangerous given how we think of the supreme court. right now frankly, it is not that i disagree with those two voices i kind of like having them there, especially with the way the court is built out right now. but, it is something that i think is going to get a lot of pushback from other democrats. there is a logic to the argument, but i think that it is going to bother a lot of ....
People to ask these two women to step down instead of you know, staying on that of when there is someone else who could potentially, who they are going to put on in their. place. i think the argument would be justices that are perhaps younger and therefore would serve on the court longer, since ages always a factor. i think people think of ruth bader ginsburg at the time when there was some calls for her to step down and how that sea ended up going to a republican and of course the republicans when it comes to confirming justices don t play fair ball, we saw what they did with mayor garland and so politics is a major factor, juanita. what do you think of the argument that someone like edith is making that the justices should consider retiring during the next two years and giving justices with perhaps greater longevity on the court. , i mean when you think about the two justices in particular though they are relatively young and they are healthy so i don t think they represent the sam ....
Repeatedly if possible. program and practices. these were people who would go through the scripts and say you can t use this word. we felt like we were in the midst of a battle. this is freedom of speech. at the senate hearings on television violence today strong charges were leveled at the commercial television networks. the broadcasting industry now stands charged with having molested the minds of our nation s children to serve the cause of corporate profit. the family hour was established by the three networks and the federal communications commission in response to complaints of too much sex and violence on early evening television. the family hour, the two hours from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. during which parents and children are supposed to be able to watch television without being made to feel uncomfortable. it s topless, edith! so it just seemed altogether unfair. and we sued. family hour is under attack from some producers, unions and others in the television industr ....
