The club, which held a popular open mic night, was often rented by up-and-coming artists for their first gigs.
Royal Wood, Steve Forbert, Steve Strongman and a string of other blues artists played the club. Eddie Clearwater performed his last show there weeks before his death in 2018.
“The pandemic really took the wind out of everyone’s sails but it was opening up again and we could either rev up again or go to the next stop in our lives,” said Denomme, who hopes to spend a little more time with his three adult children and three grandchildren.
