ALEDO, Texas After two recent incidents of racism, around 200 people packed an Aledo ISD school board meeting Monday.
Parents and students shared stories of racism and called for change in leadership and policies.
“Both my 8-year-old and my 16-year-old sons who are behind me have been targets of racial hate,” a parent said during the meeting’s comment section.

Parks of Aledo residents, who said they woke up Monday morning to numerous flyers found scattered around the neighbor depicting a âGreat Sale of Slaves,â are doing their own investigation into who may have distributed the documents, which were also found near the high school and McAnally Elementary campuses.
The flyer depicts a date of the sale as Tuesday, April 20, and lists several âslavesâ along with descriptions, including racial slurs, and pricing.
Resident Traci Parsons said she received a text around 7:30 Monday morning from an Aledo mom with a screenshot of the flyer, and began reaching out to other parents, as well as the Aledo ISD chief of police.

Eddie Burnett, president of the Parker County NAACP, told the
Star-Telegram he learned about the situation Sunday and plans to bring it up at a school board meeting set for April 19.
The school district said the students were disciplined for cyberbullying and their actions but did not specify what the discipline was.
“There is no room for racism or hatred in the Aledo ISD, period,” Bohn said in the statement. “Using inappropriate, offensive and racially charged language and conduct is completely unacceptable and is prohibited by district policy.”
The cyberbullying incident comes as former police officer Derek Chauvin sits on trial for the death of George Floyd. Less than 15 miles away from where that trial is being held, Daunte Wright was shot and killed last weekend by an officer who allegedly meant to use her taser and instead pulled out her gun and shot Wright.
