in the meantime, a historic speech from attorney general eric holder, both he and president obama say they want to assure the public that the federal investigation into the death of mike brown is going to continue. here s ed lavandera reporting from ferguson, missouri. while the grand jury proceeding in st. louis county has concluded, i can report this evening that the justice department s investigation into the shooting death of michael brown as well as our investigation into allegations of unconstitutional policing patterns or practices by the ferguson police department remain ongoing and remain active. reporter: inside the historic ebenezer baptist church in atlanta, attorney general eric holder addressed the country. at times, his words stifled by the chants of protesters. the attorney general paused to ensure their voices were heard. what we saw there was a genuine expression of concern and involvement. let me be clear, i ain t mad at

launching a formal investigation now into, if you remember back last monday night, michael brown s stepfather louis head in that video that came out, many people had basically accused him of inciting the riot that launched afterwards that night that we ve elevened from the ferguson police department that they are investigating that matter as a possible inclimate of riot with the police department tells us they have interviewed several people that were with louis head that night but they have not spoken with him yet. no charges have been filed yet, not clear if they will be filed but we ve learned that they are at least formally investigating that situation and looking into whether or not he incited a riot last monday night here in the video you re seeing now. carol? when he said this [ bleep ] down. ed lavandera reporting live from ferguson. i want to take you to
went on to a huge win yesterday, 52-0. they won yesterday and then a few hours after the game we see the statement from the st. louis police officers association very critical of what those players did on the field very critical. saying that essentially these players with siding with the thugs that had looted and caused so much destruction here in the city of ferguson and then asking the nfl to discipline those players. you know, kind of an intense story that was kind of going along the same day the mayor of ferguson was calling on new plans to recruit more african-american police officers to the police force and a task force that would improve and create dialogue between the police department and the african-american community here in ferguson. so you kind of had those two stories playing out on the same day, which i thought was kind of interesting. ed lavandera reporting live
