A SOMERSET group aiming to combat climate change and protect the environment is looking to secure premises of land for an eco-centre. The community organisation behind the plan is gearing up for its first annual general meeting on August 18. The Eco-Centre wants to improve environmental sustainability through education, green business support and a visitor centre to showcase excellence in sustainable living. It is hoping to establish a network of people and organisations who want to do more to tackle climate change. Steve Howell, chairman of The Eco-Centre, said: I am excited to see the innovative project pick up pace. We have reached a crucial phase.
