Eastleigh Lib Dems oppose plans to cut school crossing patrols

COMMUNITY leaders have launched a petition against despicable plans by county chiefs to cut crossing patrols.
As previously reported, Hampshire residents are facing potential cuts to services as the county council looks to save £80m over the next two years.
Several suggestions have been put forward on how the county will save the money and now residents are being consulted through the Balancing the Budget Consultation.
One suggestion that has been put forward is cutting the entirety of the £1.1m funding for school crossing patrols.
But now, borough chiefs in Eastleigh have taken a stand against the plans, creating a petition which they say is aimed at showing the strength of opinion amongst the public against the cuts . ....

Petition launched in Eastleigh against face to face meeting decision

A NEW petition has been launched to give authorities the power to hold virtual meetings.
The current power to hold virtual meetings for local authorities expires on May 7, and councils have been informed that it will not be extended.
Now though, member of the independent group in Eastleigh and Eastleigh Borough Councillor, Gin Tidridge, has put together a petition against the change.
The councillor is calling for authorities to determine their own meeting formats, whether that be online or in person, and says mass indoor meetings will still be inappropriate in May.
With her petition having gone live last Monday, it has currently been signed by 285 people, with fellow councillors and residents sharing links to the petition on social media. ....
