Development in protected DR/GR stopped by Bonita Springs City Council

A landowner’s plan to build a 700-home development in northeast Bonita Springs was stopped by the City Council during a Wednesday meeting. The 328-acre property sits between Citrus Park and Bonita Grande Mines north of Terry Street and east of Interstate 75. It is currently used as cattle grazing land is owned by Dennis and Tamara Swan under the business name 3HWA Land Holding LLC. The couple previously owned and operated Citrus Park until they sold it in 2019. Traffic, land and environmental engineers presented the project to City Council. They said the project is the Swans’ “vision to create a family-centered community to support the growing population of Bonita Springs,” said Brian Farrar, land asset management consultant.

PIT maneuver ends Pocatello police chase

The suspect, Gabreil Burris, 23, of Pocatello, was arrested on a charge of eluding officers. × Story continues below video Police said a patrol officer encountered Burris within the 1200 block of East Terry Street at 2:45 a.m. and attempted to make a traffic stop. Burris allegedly failed to stop and led the officer on a pursuit. The pursuit continued onto Interstate 15, where Pocatello police reportedly deployed spike strips. The pursuit ended near milepost 71 in the vicinity of Chubbuck, when an officer used a patrol car to make a PIT maneuver, which is a pursuit tactic that entails nudging the back end of a fleeing vehicle with a police vehicle, causing it to abruptly turn sideways and come to a stop. Burris was transported to Portneuf Medical Center to be medically cleared before he was taken to Bannock County Jail, police said.
