At its heart, it’s educational segregation. On its face, it’s a collision of race and culture. About 30,000 white children represent 99% of the private school population. These are ultra-Orthodox children who attend private Yeshivas. About 9,000 students of color represent 96% of the public school population. During a meeting Wednesday, the community met some of the new board members who ran unopposed.
