Colorado teachers flooded into the state Capitol to press for better protections for students and school staff after a 17-year-old Denver student shot two administrators, fled to the mountains and killed himself.
Residents of a block where law enforcement descended around the time of the East High School shooting Wednesday morning described the area as calm and unassuming, so they were startled to see the heavy police presence.
17-year-old Austin Lyle, also an East High student, was found dead around 8:15 p.m., in Park County by members of the Jefferson County SWAT Team, according to Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw.
