East Carroll Parish Library is hosting a virtual “Where We Came From” Summit. Attendees can choose to watch live and join the discussion by asking questions of panelists, or watch videos posted after each lecture. The live Zoom calls will be taking place on March 2, 9, & 16 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The first lecture is Tuesday March 2, and features Judge Laurie Brister as moderator for Jaleesa Harris and Dr. Leigh Hersey from the University of Louisiana Monroe. Their panel focuses on “Surviving Slavery, The Civil War and Liberation.”
Jaleesa Harris will speak about life under slavery and during the Civil War. Dr. Leigh Hersey will speak on the early Black suffrage movement.
